What you'll do...

Note: The successful candidate can be based in our Bentonville, AR, Chicago, IL, Hoboken, NJ or San Bruno, CA offices.

We are looking for an experienced and ambitious Business Development Representative to act as the first point of contact for prospective clients, represent Walmart Data Ventures and make a positive impression that sets the tone for the entire sales lifecycle. You will be empowered to prospect, qualify, set meetings, and develop strategic engagements with our key supplier partners. This role will be tasked with managing and qualifying inbound leads, as well as proactively driving outbound prospecting activities, all while leveraging our CRM system to ensure accurate and timely reporting on lead generation activities. The ideal candidate will have an energetic, can-do attitude and be comfortable working in a metrics-driven environment.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead management and proactive prospecting into strategic Walmart supplier organizations via cold call, email and social strategies
  • Drive sales growth and pipeline through setting up qualified meetings for Business Development and Account Management team
  • Be a subject matter expert and evangelist of the Walmart Luminate collaborative portal solutions
  • Produce creative strategies for targeting decision-makers at prospect accounts in order to book sales appointments and influence company revenue
  • Understanding our buyer personas and the needs and "pains" of our target market
  • Writing and adapting email scripts and outreach sequences
  • Using social selling techniques to attract and source leads
  • Updating and keeping detailed notes in our CRM (Salesforce)
  • Brainstorming and executing new strategies to attract our target market
  • Working together with the team to establish and share prospecting techniques that work
  • Keeping up to date on trends and news from the industry, our competitors, and our target market
  • Helping to create updates and reports for presentation to management
  • Ensures compliance with company policies and procedures and supports company mission, values, and standards of ethics and integrity by implementing related action plans; utilizing and supporting the Open Door Policy; and providing direction and guidance on applying these in executing business processes and practices.

    Key Qualifications:
    • Proven work experience as a Business Development Representative, Sales Account Executive or similar role
    • BS or BA degree in Marketing, Business, or related field
    • Hands-on experience with multiple sales techniques (including cold calls)
    • Track record of achieving specific quotas
    • Experience with CRM software (e.g. Salesforce)
    • Familiarity with MS Office Suite (analyzing spreadsheets and charts)
    • Understanding of sales performance metrics
    • Exceptional written and verbal communication skills
    • Strong time management and organization skills
    • Self-starter who has a desire to learn, grow, and excel in their role
