Job Description Job Description Degree in American Sign Language (ASL) Interpreting, certified ASL Interpreter credentials, and 1 year of experience as an ASL Interpreter in educational settings. Applicants who do not meet these qualifications will not be considered. A K-12 school in Naperville, IL is seeking a skilled Sign Language Interpreter to support students and staff by facilitating clear communication between deaf or hard-of-hearing individuals and their peers and educators. This contract position is available for the current school year and offers the opportunity to contribute meaningfully to an inclusive educational environment. Key Responsibilities: Interpret spoken language into sign language and vice versa during classroom instruction, meetings, and school events Collaborate with teachers, administrators, and support staff to ensure effective communication and accessibility Assist students in accessing curriculum and participating fully in classroom activities Support social interactions and extracurricular activities requiring communication assistance Maintain confidentiality and professionalism in all aspects of the role Desired Qualifications: Proficiency in American Sign Language (ASL) with strong interpreting skills Experience working in educational settings, preferably with K-12 students Ability to adapt interpreting techniques to different learning environments and individual needs Strong communication and interpersonal skills Commitment to fostering an inclusive and supportive learning atmosphere Location: Naperville, IL (on-site assignment) This contract role offers a chance to make a significant impact on student success by bridging communication gaps and promoting inclusivity in the school community.
