Job Description Job Description 2nd Shift Machinists (CNC & Manual) – Confidential OEM Location: Itasca, IL (West Suburbs) Shift: 2nd Shift | 4:00 PM – 12:30 AM Overtime, also potential for 1st shift opening Pay: $25–$30/hr $3/hr shift differential (flexible for strong candidates) Employment Type: Contract-to-Hire (6 months) Openings: 7–11 total About the Opportunity This is a confidential opportunity with a well-established OEM manufacturer that designs and builds custom industrial machinery and equipment used in data centers and other critical infrastructure applications. The company is experiencing significant growth, has a strong backlog of orders, and is expanding operations by launching a new second shift. This role offers consistent overtime, exposure to complex custom builds, and long-term stability with a manufacturer that has been operating successfully for over a century. All hires will train on 1st shift initially before transitioning to 2nd shift once the team is fully staffed. Open Positions CNC Machinists (Mills and/or Lathes) Manual Machinists (Bridgeport-style mills) Candidates may be considered for either role based on experience. CNC Machinist Responsibilities Set up, operate, and edit programs on CNC Mills and/or Lathes Work with high-mix, low-volume custom parts Edit and modify G-code or mazatrol (full programming is a plus) Upload and download programs via CNC software systems Read and interpret engineering drawings and specifications Verify parts meet tolerance and surface finish requirements Recommend process and efficiency improvements Perform routine preventative maintenance CNC Machinist Requirements 2–5 years of CNC machining experience Strong setup and G-code editing capability Experience in OEM, custom machinery, or job shop environments Ability to work overtime as production demands Manual Machinist Responsibilities Machine custom, one-off metal components using manual mills Drill and tap thick steel and aluminum components Follow mechanical blueprints and drawings Verify dimensions using precision measuring tools Support custom machine builds and assemblies Manual Machinist Requirements 2–3 years of manual machining experience Strong Bridgeport or similar manual mill background Proven experience drilling and tapping thick metal High attention to detail and comfort working to tight tolerances Why This Role Stands Out Strong backlog and long-term job stability High-volume overtime available (up to ~20 hours/week) Custom, non-repetitive work Growing operation with continued facility expansion Fast hiring process — one onsite interview Additional Details Shift Differential: $3/hr Overtime: Up to ~20 hrs/week Start Date: ASAP Requirements: Drug test and background check required Education: High School Diploma or GED preferred
