Academic Role Overview: The Director of the Primary Care Service
Line at our organization is responsible for guiding strategic
initiatives, managing operations, and fostering growth in primary
care within an academic healthcare environment. Key duties
encompass supervising clinical pathways, overseeing financial
operations, ensuring compliance, maintaining quality assurance, and
leading teams to improve patient care and enhance organizational
effectiveness. Candidates must possess an MD or DO, be board
certified in Internal or Family Medicine, have substantial
experience in a healthcare system, and demonstrate strong
leadership capabilities. Our organization, a distinguished clinical
and educational institution serving as the teaching hospital for
medical and nursing colleges, is seeking applications for the role
of Director of the Primary Care Service Line. Key Responsibilities
Strategic Leadership & Operations Direct the strategic planning for
the growth and operational initiatives of the Service Line,
including clinical pathways, while collaborating with
organizational leadership, physician leaders, and departmental
management to set business priorities. Oversee essential
performance metrics such as patient volumes, satisfaction, and
access. Guide the development and rollout of new clinical services.
Support the integration of care across current and future
affiliated sites. Financial Management & Business Development
Prepare and manage the annual operational and revenue budgets.
Monitor financial performance and identify opportunities for cost
savings. Formulate strategies for revenue enhancement and growth
initiatives. Supervise managed care activities and lead the
recruitment process for faculty; develop financial models for
revenue and activity projections. Quality & Compliance Ensure
adherence to state and federal laws, accreditation standards, and
regulatory requirements. Develop and implement departmental
policies and procedures that align with organizational guidelines
and comply with HCFA, Joint Commission, and Corporate Compliance.
Lead performance improvement initiatives and educational programs,
monitor the quality of healthcare services, and coordinate risk
management efforts. Implement policies and procedures for patient
safety and quality assurance. Maintain a patient-centered focus by
exemplifying strong patient and family relations, customer
satisfaction, and clinical outcomes. Team Leadership &
Collaboration Collaborate closely with department Chairs and
strategic planning teams to develop the annual board report,
budgetary volume forecasts, and new strategic growth initiatives,
including technology selection and faculty recruitment. Establish
and nurture strong working relationships with corporate compliance
to ensure ongoing adherence to all state and federal regulations.
Encourage a positive work environment that promotes open
communication, independent thinking, and service excellence while
actively participating in performance improvement and educational
initiatives. Maintain collegial relationships across departments to
facilitate cross-functional improvements. Engage with regional and
national experts to share knowledge, experiences, practices, and
research. Partner with Faculty & Provider Recruitment to attract
and retain high-caliber physicians and advanced practice providers.
Qualifications Doctor of Medicine (MD) or Doctor of Osteopathic
Medicine (DO) required Board Certification in Family Medicine or
Internal Medicine required Unrestricted medical license (or
eligibility to obtain) in Illinois Minimum of 8 years of
progressive experience in a healthcare system or academic medical
center Minimum of 2 years of experience in people management
Significant exposure to service lines in both inpatient and
outpatient settings is preferred Proven marketing skills,
analytical abilities, and business acumen Advanced proficiency in
Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, Access, PowerPoint) Strong
communication, organizational, and problem-solving skills Excellent
interpersonal skills with the ability to collaborate with physician
leaders Able to manage multiple projects simultaneously, both

competitive total compensation package that includes base salary,
benefits, and various incentive programs. The total pay range
reflects numerous factors, including knowledge, skills, relevant
experience, education, certifications, and work location. This
range is for a full-time employee and may include additional
compensation such as sign-on bonuses and relocation allowances.
Opportunities for increased compensation based on exceeding
productivity targets are also available. Our comprehensive benefits
package further enhances our offerings. Pay Range: $300,000 -
