Position: Admissions Counselor - BRIDGE specialist Location: Wheaton, IL
Job Id: 780 # of Openings: 1 Admissions Counselor - BRIDGE Specialist - Job Overview - Responsible for those areas relating to the recruitment, evaluation, and enrollment of undergraduate liberal arts students. Additionally, coordinates specific initiatives for and related to the recruitment of students of color and first-generation college students, especially through Wheaton College's BRIDGE program. -The Admissions Counselor - BRIDGE Specialist reports to the Recruitment Team Manager. - Duties and Responsibilities -

  • Regularly communicates -by phone and email with prospective students and their families, from -initial -inquiry through enrollment. -
  • Provides -timely information about Wheaton College and answer inquiries about application procedures, college programs, credentials, status of applications, and application decisions within 24 hours of -initial -contact. -
  • Represents -Wheaton and Wheaton College's BRIDGE program at college fairs, high schools, and -other -recruitment events online and in-person, as directed. -
  • Conducts -information sessions, campus tours, and interviews (on-campus, off-campus, online, and -via -telephone). -
  • Cultivates -strategic connections with churches, high schools, and guidance counselors in designated territory. -
  • Plans -and implements -out-of-state recruitment travel, as assigned. -
  • Recruits -top prospects from assigned application segment to -apply, -visit, and enroll at Wheaton -College, -providing increased personal contact. -
  • Recruits , counsels, advises -and assists -with the onboarding of all BRIDGE-graduate applicants -to -Wheaton College. -
  • Reads , summarizes, and provides -initial evaluation of applications within assigned segment of the applicant pool. -
  • Makes -initial recommendations to the Director of Admissions regarding the admissibility of applicants within assigned segment of applicant pool. -
  • Actively participates -in the decision-making process of the Admissions Committee. -
  • Participates -in Multicultural Scholarship Committee. -
  • Recruits , counsels -and advises -prospective BRIDGE students and their families. -
  • Reads , summarizes, and provides -initial evaluation of BRIDGE applications, making recommendations to -the -BRIDGE Manager regarding admissibility of BRIDGE applicants. -
  • Assists -with the coordination of BRIDGE recruitment and retention events, such as Interview Day -and -cohort reunions. -
  • Teaches -a course to BRIDGE students on the college application -process. -
  • Provides -input to the Recruitment -Team -Manager on the admissions process, suggesting ways to -improve -recruitment -efforts. - This job description is intended to represent key areas of responsibilities; specific assignments may vary from time to time, and other duties may be assigned. - Qualifications -
    • Bachelor's degree, -familiarity with BRIDGE, Wheaton College and a Christian liberal arts education preferred -
    • Strong communication, decision-making and organization -skills -
    • Fluency in conversational Spanish, competency in written formal Spanish preferred -
    • Self-motivated, ability to work with details, ability to manage many diverse tasks -
    • Ability to travel locally, regionally, and nationally as needed. - Approximately 3-5 weeks of overnight -travel -per academic -year -
    • Valid -driver's -license -
