Job Description:

The Purchasing Manager is responsible for exercising business judgment to develop and define a comprehensive strategy, resulting in superior cost and availability performance. The Purchasing Manager is responsible for sourcing equipment, goods and services and managing vendors. The successful candidate will be able to perform strategic procurement activities across multiple categories of spend, search for better deals and find more profitable suppliers.

  • Develop, lead, and execute purchasing strategies
  • Ensure procurement strategies are known to all relevant parts of the business in order to maximize potential cost savings/avoidance opportunities
  • Establish and maintain strong working relationships with internal and external business partners/clients; seek and partner with reliable vendors and suppliers
  • Track and report key functional metrics to reduce expenses and improve effectiveness
  • Craft negotiation strategies and close deals with optimal terms
  • Partner with stakeholders to ensure clear requirements documentation
  • Forecast price and market trends to identify changes of balance in buyer-supplier power
  • Perform cost and scenario analysis, and benchmarking
  • Oversee supplier performance and risk management; assess, manage and mitigate risks
  • Determine quantity and timing of deliveries
  • Monitor and forecast upcoming levels of demand

    Requirements
    • Pass background check and screening requirements
    • 10 years of purchasing experience preferred; technical competency in procurement/supply chain, finance, contracts, and/or operations
    • Confident using solid judgment and decision-making skills
    • Proven experience in problem solving
    • Experience in managing corporate wide spend on MRO, Lumber, equipment, consumables, etc.
    • Proven working experience as purchasing manager, agent, or officer
    • Familiarity with sourcing and vendor management
    • Interest in market dynamics along with business sense
    • A knack for negotiation and networking

      Travel and Work Schedule
      • Must be willing and able to travel to customer, vendor and other company sites as necessary about 5% - 10% of the time
      • The company works consistently throughout the year, the incumbent must be flexible with their work schedule. and manage their time accordingly to support the business

        Education Requirements
        • BS degree in supply chain management, logistics or business administration

          Work Environment
          • Work is primarily done in an office environment
          • May need to travel to outdoor worksites as needed
          • Wearing of safety clothing and equipment may at times be required
