Job Description Job Description About the Opportunity Our client, an innovative leader in the packaging industry, is seeking a highly driven Purchasing Manager to join their growing team on a temp-to-hire basis. The Purchasing Manager will play a critical role in leading vendor strategy, improving cost efficiency, and supporting production operations. Key Responsibilities Oversee all purchasing activities for raw materials, packaging components, and production-related supplies. Develop and maintain strong vendor relationships, negotiate pricing, and identify opportunities for cost reduction, rebates, and strategic partnerships. Evaluate supplier performance, quality, delivery timelines, and contract compliance. Collaborate with Production, Supply Chain, and Operations teams to ensure materials align with forecasting and production schedules. Manage purchase orders, order tracking, and inventory levels to maintain optimal material availability. Support continuous improvement initiatives and contribute to strategic sourcing decisions. Review spend data, analyze trends, and prepare purchasing reports for leadership. Utilize and maintain ERP data (NetSuite or similar systems) to ensure accurate purchasing and inventory records. Required Skills & Qualifications 5 years of purchasing or procurement experience, ideally within manufacturing, packaging, or industrial products. Strong negotiation and vendor-management capabilities - must be comfortable leading tough conversations. A buyer's instinct with the ability to question, challenge, and propose creative cost-saving solutions. Proficiency using ERP systems (NetSuite preferred) and strong Excel/math skills for cost analysis. Detail-oriented, organized, and able to manage multiple priorities under tight timelines.
